the army is not giving to the handsome, or the very tall and masculine; it has always been for the man who has consistently proven himself countless times in the wilderness of combat where the stakes are high and chances few. The soldier who dreads a wilderness experience, yet salivate for the rank of a General is only day dreaming. The army of God is no less different; to be counted among God’s generals. You need to pass through series of wildernesses. David has to engage and slay a giant, and do many other mighty deeds to make that list. And to make it on the list of the Mighty Men of David, the soldiers had to do extraordinary things. Someone rightly said, “For every star, there is a scare.” For every extraordinary achievement, there is a sacrifice. The wilderness experience tries and proves men who have what it takes to be generals in God’s Army.
